Dachsberg wind farm:
urban development contract signed for seven turbines in Schwielowsee

The municipal council in Schwielowsee today approved the construction of seven wind turbines in the Bliesendorfer Heide. Previously, the Potsdam-based wind planner NOTUS energy had adapted the application at the request of the community. The turbines will be erected in the pine forests along the A10 freeway behind the Werder freeway interchange.

"Among other things, we have once again changed the course of the access roads to the wind turbines in the new plans," explains Mirko Hannemann, the responsible project manager at NOTUS energy. For the access roads to the turbines, which are located south of the highway, the existing clearings under the power line will now be used for long stretches. "This will once again reduce the encroachment on the forest," says Hannemann.

The routes will be used to deliver the components and later for service technicians to reach the wind turbines. During the construction of the turbines, the access roads have to be widened in places, but the encroachment is kept to a minimum by modern transport technology. After completion of the construction work, the roadsides will be replanted. After a short time, access roads to wind turbines are hardly distinguishable from normal forest roads.

Furthermore, wells are now planned for fire protection instead of cisterns, which are drilled specifically for this purpose. "Firefighters will thus have safe and unlimited water sources in the forest. Even if a carelessly discarded cigarette starts a fire in the dry forest," Hannemann said.

Of the 18 wind turbines originally planned for Bliesendorfer Heide, NOTUS energy had already withdrawn applications for 9 turbines in September. The area was designated as a suitability area for wind energy by the state of Brandenburg in 2015 because there are only minor conflicts with people and nature here: The nearest settlements are sufficiently far away and few wind energy-sensitive animals live in the pine monocultures.

"Each one of the wind turbines planned for Schwielowsee generates CO2-free electricity for about 3,760 four-person households," Hannemann explains. And the surrounding communities also benefit financially: through the so-called Windeuro, which will become mandatory in Brandenburg from 2020, 10,000 euros per wind turbine will go to the surrounding communities every year. Schwielowsee receives 40 percent of this levy.
